In 2022, I was invited to Brazil to keynote at an event called Untold Futures, hosted by KES. I had no idea that that the transformation framework I developed for that talk would resonate so deeply not only for that audience, but people all over the world. Visionary Futuremaking is an approach to living and leading that transforms our relationship with possibility.
A few weeks ago, I found myself repeatedly invited to counsel people on how to navigate this wild world we are in. How do we make sense of the emotions we are feeling? How do we remain committed to a brighter world despite the doom and loom we see and hear every day? How do we not feel debilitated by the growing sense of uncertainty? These questions kept coming…
I gazed at my calendar. Despite the deep concerns I held about the state of the U.S.A, I was excited to return for a while to visit with my dear friend and mentor, Dr. Jean Houston. I received a text inviting me to do a meet and greet while in Ashland, Oregon with their community of Social Artists. When asked to commune with the Ashland community, I always say yes.
While readying for the trip, and contemplating my travel schedule, something struck me: I should go on tour! What!?! I thought to myself. Where did that come from? But, the more I thought about it, the more it became clear that it was time to share with more people the magical shifts, taking place in private… It was time to cultivate a deeper and more expansive conversation around Visionary Futuremaking because the questions of how to skillfully navigate these times will not stop. The questions will keep on coming…
The domain of futures and strategic foresight, often feels walled off to many. Futuremaking, not so. It is the domain where individual and collective agency are welcome. My intention is to make it as accessible as possible. Towards, the end of the tour, I will host an online event that will enable those who are not able to attend any of the experiences in person and online to explore how they can embrace this powerful approach for themselves.
